Discover the hidden gem that is Kimakia Forest, nestled at the picturesque border between Murang’a and Kiambu counties, right on the edge of Aberdares Forest Reserve. Our journey begins at the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) office, where anticipation mounts for the adventure that lies ahead.
Setting off along narrow forest roads, we’re treated to expansive views of untouched wilderness, a precursor to the wonders awaiting us deeper within the forest. As we delve further into the lush greenery, the path becomes more challenging, but every twist and turn offers a new vista of breathtaking beauty.
Prepare to be awestruck as we navigate through the heart of the forest, encountering babbling streams and cascading waterfalls along the way. The descent to the river may be slippery, but the reward is unparalleled – the stunning double-tiered waterfall of Kimakia, a sight that will leave you speechless.
